Corn
USDA gave the corn market a surprise today by raising harvested acres 1.3 mln and upped the corn yield by a half a bushel. Projected carryout projected at 2.2 bil bu, higher than the average trade guess by 255 mln. South American production left unchanged. Corn down 18 c currently.
Soybeans
Projected soybean carryout was pegged at 350 mln bu, up 60 mln from the previous report. Brazilian production was raised 3 mmt, Argentine production left unchanged. Soybeans down 13 c currently.
Wheat
Wheat projected carryout came in at 926 mln bu, up 25 mln bu from the previous WASDE. All wheat acres higher than the average trade guess by about 500 k. Wheat down 4 c currently.
Bottom Line
The USDA confirmed the ample supplies of all grains in today’s report. Going to be a tall task to rally the corn and soybean market drastically with the current carryout projections.
